Dear supporters,
Even though the international media hardly reports on the situation in Cabo Delgado/Mozambique, the displacement and suffering continues.
800,000 people have fled since the conflict began in 2017. The vast majority are women and children.
GMPIS has been helping displaced women and their children for 2 years with your valuable support.
This year we would like to organise a solidarity lunch for the women and children in the displaced camps of Metuje and Mecufi. Please support us in bringing a little joy to their lives.
Since we launched our solidarity campaign for women in Cabo Delgado, Northern Mozambique, 24 months ago, the situation did not get better and hundreds of thousands of refugees who fled from extremist violence are still waiting in improvised camps to go back to their communities. During the conflict thousands of people were killed, several being beheaded, and hundreds of people missing.
Women and girls are especially affected because they have had to leave their homes and fields, have been raped and/or kidnapped. Many of them sought shelter in the provincial capital, Pemba, in the homes of their relatives or in shelter camps. Here, they have no means of supporting themselves and their families.
With donations received by the end of November 2022, we were able to support 2000 women and their families.
GMPIS, the organizer of this campaign, is a feminist network and all funds go to women in Cabo Delgado.
The Sofala Group of Women for the Sharing of Ideas (GMPIS) is a space for sharing ideas and for solidarity among women, which articulates itself in a thematic way and among women’s networks. Founded in May 2014 in the city of Beira, in Sofala province, Mozambique, GMPIS has today more than 30 member organizations and groups and several autonomous activists working in the provinces of Sofala, Maputo, Gaza and Inhambane, remaining open to all women interested in building reflections and joint actions. The most recent group was created in September, during a GMPIS visit to the region. Formed by activists in Pemba, the capital of Cabo Delgado province, this group is having a strategic role in the the empowerment of the affected women and the distribution of the donations.

Embora os meios de comunicação internacionais quase não noticiem a situação em Cabo Delgado/Moçambique, a deslocação e o sofrimento continuam.
800.000 pessoas fugiram desde que o conflito começou em 2017. A grande maioria são mulheres e crianças.
GMPIS tem vindo a ajudar as mulheres deslocadas e os seus filhos há 2 anos com o vosso valioso apoio.
Este ano gostaríamos de organizar um almoço de solidariedade para as mulheres e crianças nos campos de deslocados de Metuje e Mecufi. Por favor, apoiem-nos a trazer um pouco de alegria às suas vidas.
Desde que lançámos a nossa campanha de solidariedade para as mulheres em Cabo Delgado, Norte de Moçambique, há 24 meses, a situação não melhorou e centenas de milhares de refugiados que fugiram da violência extremista continuam à espera em campos improvisados para regressarem às suas comunidades. Durante o conflito, milhares de pessoas foram mortas, várias foram decapitadas e centenas de pessoas desapareceram.
Mulheres e raparigas são especialmente afectadas porque tiveram de abandonar as suas casas e campos, foram violadas e/ou raptadas. Muitas delas procuraram abrigo na capital provincial, Pemba, nas casas dos seus familiares ou em campos de abrigo. Aqui, não têm meios para se sustentarem a si próprias e às suas famílias.
Com os donativos recebidos até finais de Novembro de 2022, pudemos apoiar 2000 mulheres e as suas famílias.
O Grupo de Mulheres de Partilha de Ideias (GMPIS) é um espaço de partilha de ideias e solidariedade entre mulheres, articulando-se de forma temática e em redes de mulheres.
Fundado em maio de 2014 na cidade da Beira, localizada na Província de Sofala, em Moçambique, hoje o GMPIS conta com mais de 30 organizações e grupos membros e várias activistas autónomas que actuam nas Provincias de Sofala, Maputo, Gaza e Inhambane, mantendo-se aberto a todas as mulheres interessadas em construir reflexões e ações conjuntas. O núcleo mais recente foi criado em setembro, durante visita do GMPIS à região. Formado por activistas em Pemba, capital da Província de Cabo Delgado, esse núcleo vai desempenhar um papel estratégico na distribuição de doações às mulheres afectadas.
