Teepee Cot Covers for NICU

Grace was born at 27+6 weeks (12 weeks early) and today she is 70 days old. Grace has spent her life to date in The Townsville Hospital Neonatal Unit being cared for by the wonderful Doctors and Nurses to whom we will be forever grateful.
Having a premature baby is not easy, trust me this is not my first rodeo! It is a whole new world that you have to experience to understand. Each day is full of emotional, mental and physical challenges for the parents and families and it can be the smallest things that brighten up their long and tiring day!
Once the babies come out of the isolets they go into an open air cot that has a teepee like cover over the top to shield their eyes from the bright lights. The majority of the covers in the unit are old, faded and drab. Myself and one other Mum have already donated material for the nurses who sew to make a total of 8 new covers such as the gorgeous unicorn cover on Grace’s cot in the picture. Everyone including the nurses, doctors, cleaners, family and friends who have come into Grace’s room have commented on the gorgeous cot cover and the staff have said how they’d love to get more of them!
This is where you come in! If you’d like to help me to ‘pay it back’ to the Neonatal Unit here at The Townsville Hospital, please donate towards buying material to make more of these gorgeous, bright and fun teepee cot covers!
There are a total of 47 funded beds in the unit and I would love to be able to get enough material to make one cover for each bed.
All donations, big or small, will help to put a smile on the face of the families of these tough little fighters! Xx
