Some Larry Love

Dear friends and family, If you’ve had the pleasure of knowing Larry then you know that he is the kindest, funniest, most lovable French Bulldog. He loves absolutely everything about life and something about that little meatball just melts everyone’s heart. I am so lucky to have him. He truly is my best friend, and I know many of you feel the same way! What sets him apart from other dogs was his ability to jump over the tallest buildings in Denver! Just kidding about the buildings... but he would if his little legs would allow it! I’ve never encountered a dog with such an adventurous spirit! Larry was always jumping off high furniture and navigating the streets of Denver like EveI Knievel. I was told that he was just an “athletic frenchie,” but I was never warned to STOP or CURB his activities. If only…….. A couple of days ago I woke  to him leaning against the wall of his crate with his hind quarters trembling. What began as a possible muscle pull was actually an inflamed spinal injury that was pressing against his nerves. He was in excruciating pain. He whimpered and panted for several hours. I didn’t know what to do. He was paralyzed. Immediately I took Larry to the vet and discovered that he has IVDD, or Intervertebral Disc Disease, which is a degenerative disease that affects countless breeds, at varying ages and activity levels. It occurs when discs in the spinal column begin to shift so much that they protrude outward, pressing against the spinal cord and its nerves. The discs are thick plates—or disc-like cushions, which lie between the bony vertebrae in the spine. They are composed of a fibrous outer layer called the annulus fibrosus and a pulpy, gelatinous center called the nucleus pulposus. They help to cushion the spine as your dog walks, trots, runs, twists, or decides to do the “zoomies” or the Frenchie 500!Those of you with pets know that vet bills are not cheap, especially those for major surgery and conditions like IVDD. But I want to do anything and everything in my power to help out my best friend. So, I’m here on GOFUNDME to ask for some help in covering the costs of Larry’s surgery and vet bills. You’ll not only be helping his human, but most importantly Larry while he begins this difficult road to what is hopefully a full recovery. Think of it as tipping your favorite bartender. Anything helps! Thank you,A.J. & Larry Larimer ❤️
