Nancy Beguhn-DuBois Expenses

After much hesitation and encouragement I’ve decided to open this page in hopes of offsetting costs for a surprise trip that I’m planning for my mother. She has been through months of challenges, beginning with misdiagnosis of a stroke thru one hospital- to finally moving to a hospital in downtown Chicago where they actually know how to treat and communicate with patients and families. The delay resulted in increased tumor growth, which in turn, meant some options were no longer afforded her. She made it through an emergency brain surgery before the holidays and is now done with full brain radiation and into a long road of chemo. They’ve diagnosed her with Stage 4 Melanoma, that has metastasized to her brain. While no one has a definitive amount of time on this earth, we do know her days are surely limited. It’s been a challenging adjustment in all of our lives, but we’ve managed to stay positive while focusing on enjoying as much time together as a family as we can. One of my moms greatest dreams is to visit Tuscany, Italy. I’m planning a trip with a target of September of 2018. Ideally I’ll be able to take her to Venice and Florence as well, but as long as there is sun, wine, relaxation, and peace- it will prove to be all that she dreams it to be. My heart is sad as I imagine traveling for the last time, or heck, even identifying a literal bucket list that has to be prioritized due to time and money. It breaks me to think that even now those are the limits to the dream. My wish and prayer is to make her smile as much as possible until we have to say goodbye. This surprise would be more than she could ever imagine or think deserved. I want her to be wrong. I thank you in advance for reading this, and for considering contributing to this trip.
