As many of you know, I began transitioning from female to male over a year ago when I started hormone replacement therapy. This was a huge step, and one that has made me feel more like myself than ever before. I have finally scheduled top surgery to have a double mastectomy in September.
That being said, I am lucky enough to work for a corporation that will give me the needed time off to recover. However, my ability to work will be extremely compromised for up to four weeks following surgery. I am a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, and I won't be able to lift more than ten pounds for several weeks - making my job much more difficult and compromising the experience of my clientele and members unfortunately.
I am never one to ask for hand outs of any kind, I believe in always working for what you want. I work extremely hard to always be there for everyone and anyone. On that same note, I ask that you help me. My insurance, as amazing as it is, will not cover any cost of my surgery. My benefits through my job are absolutely amazing, but this is seen as an elective surgery.
I would appreciate any help you could provide during the time that I am unable to work and recover. I love you all and appreciate any support you can give.
