Help for the Heidenbergs!

With the help of her family, Emma has been battling brain tumors related to Neurofibormatosis type 1 since she was three years old. Emma is the rarest of the rare – while many with NF1 go on to lead relatively normal lives, Emma’s tumors grew rapidly, became cancerous and required extensive surgery and chemo. After intense rounds of treatment, while the tumors didn’t disappear, Emma enjoyed three years of stability without chemo. Then on February 6th, 2019, Emma’s family received the devastating news that her tumors had suddenly started multiplying once more. She’s been on continuous chemo ever since, as she and her family battle towards the hope of stability.
Just months after Emma’s relapse, her identical twin sister Gracie had an MRI which revealed startling similarities to her sister. While Gracie’s brain tumors are not yet considered cancerous, they are causing significant disruption to her daily life and require continuous medical attention.
Originally this GFM was created by the twins’ Auntie Amber with the intention of helping the Heidenbergs though a particularly difficult period where they were forced to move in the midst of Emma’s relapse. That campaign was successful, and the family now has safe place to call home. Thank you to our donors!!
However, as you can imagine, the family is very much still fighting - and it’s especially difficult now in the midst of the current pandemic. Your donations go towards medical bills, hotel stays when the girls have to stay near Stanford, gas to get them to their appointments, meals when they are traveling to the hospital or return from visits, and anything which might make the family’s life a little easier during this challenging time. There has been an incredible community that has rallied around the Heidenbergs, and we appreciate each of you SO much!
