Help Save Charlie’s Sight

12 year old Charlie was born prematurely weighing just 695g and has battled many obstacles. At 7 years old, Charlie began to lose his sight. His optic discs are cupping as he grows, and he has severe Myopia. After much investigation, we have been coming to terms with the fact that he may lose his sight completely during his puberty growth spurt. In January, Charlies consultant told us that there are new eye drops which will stunt any changes, thus stopping his sight from getting any worse. However, these drops are currently only available in Singapore, China and Australia. The drops (atropine 0.01%) are hopefully going to be available in the UK at the end of next year. Unfortunately, this will be too late to help Charlie. I am taking Charlie over to Singapore, to the eye clinic , as suggested by his UK consultant , where we will be able to obtain a years supply of the drops. As a single parent family, we are struggling with the cost of the trip with such short notice.
