Garry-Owen Mosul 06-07, Documentary

Donation protected
We are making a documentary of our Battalion time in Mosul Iraq.2-7 Cav Battalion deployed during the Surge of Iraq to Mosul, Iraq.

It was around 850 of us against 2.5 million of them.

LTC Welsh and CSM Pippin led their men for 14 long-bloody months of combat against the terrorist group Al’Qaeda.

We made history during that time. We started with an average of 19 attacks (against us) a day, by the end of the deployment we had an average of 9 attacks a day. 2-7 Cav had a solid control of the city of Mosul during, what is now known as, the deadliest year of the war in Iraq. That’s the story we want to tell. And it’ll be told by the men that were there.

Please help us make this happen.

How are we going to use the money?

So the money is what is going to let us make this happen within a reasonable time frame. We have to travel across the United States to meet with the Veterans of this unit. We’ll need plane tickets, rental cars, Hotel rooms and rent a room within the hotel for interviews.

We are also going to rent, instead of buying, the equipment that we’ll need to film the documentary. Which I believe is an awesome and better way, unlike buying equipment with donated money. We wouldn’t and won’t keep something that was bought we donated money.

Who are “we”?

I’m Fermin Iturbide from Kellogg Iowa and my brother Dan Stakley from San Antonio Texas.

Both Army veterans and veterans of this unit. We both fought together, we bled together, and cried together.
We’ve always said to people that every time one of us were in bad situation in Iraq, the other one was right next to the other. Is what makes us unique, every single fight I’ve been in, I’ve fought along side Dan Stakley.

The money will be use by myself and Dan Stakley, we both are veterans of this unit. When I said that is made by veterans for veterans. That’s what I mean, me and Dan, the “muscle” of the operation, have actually fought with this unit and with the men that we’ll get in front of the camera.

So me and Dan are the ones that will use the money for travel expenses and equipment.

One of our officers, Michael Bradbury, currently a Major in the Army Reserves and a Lawyer in South Carolina, will be the one monitoring and keeping record of the use of this money. We want and will have full transparency with the use of the money. We are putting ourselves out there as non-profit group.

At the same time our former Command Sergeant Major, CSM James Pippin from Texas will have the record and diary of our travels. He will always be notify as to where we go and who are we meeting with.

We will have complete and detail records of the progress and use of the money.

Any other questions please feel free to ask.
