SAVE ST. BERNARDO!❤️

Donation protected
This big boy is NARDO. And he’s 150 pounds of love once he trusts you. The problem is this; it takes a long time for him to trust you. NARDO entered our shelter over two years ago. He along with 6 other dogs at his home had been abused and extremely neglected. NARDO had been forced to live in a tiny cage for years. I can’t even imagine how terrible this was for him and his little dog family. They were all skin and bones and some had behavior issues. After being shown love and getting the basic necessities most take for granted, the shelter found them all good homes. Except NARDO. NARDO has been a tougher case and needs an experienced trainer or reputable sanctuary. We love him so much at the shelter but can no longer keep him here. He has been ordered to be euthanized soon if we can’t find a place for him. He has never bitten anyone and he seems happy here but he deserves more. There are only two of us that handle him and there have been others who could handle him and he loved, but they no longer work at the shelter. He loves being outside and he has a big yard and shelter. He is surrounded by other dogs all day in play yards and he loves it, but once again, he deserves more. I am heartbroken at the thought of this boy dying since I think he just has barrier issues, but I’m not a trainer, just a volunteer. BUT, I think he just protects his yard because he’s happy here and never had one before. But once again, I’m no expert. So here is where we are. The staff and volunteers at the shelter are trying desperately to save him. We need to raise funds to have a trainer evaluate him. After that, we need to get him into a training facility that works with big dogs with behavior issues and that takes money too. If you would like to help our boy, you can send a tax deductible check or money order to : Lockhart Animal Shelter 547 Old McMahan Road Lockhart, Texas 78644. Memo: FOR NARDO. And please, I know he looks like a big teddy bear and he is once he loves you, but he really needs to go to a very experienced specialized trainer first. If he was so easily adoptable, he would have already been because he is gorgeous. If any money is raised beyond his costs it will go to spay/neuter/medical funds for our shelter animals. We don’t have a vet and work very hard to insure that all of our shelter babies have a good life until we can find them a forever home. Our little rural Texas shelter with limited resources has saved thousands of lives in the past couple of years. The only thing keeping Nardo from having a chance at a real life too is money. Anything helps and thank you so much. ❤️
