On Jan 3rd our mother Shelly went in to have a colonoscopy done at Gundersen due to several issues with bleeding and pain that couldn’t be explained. During the colonoscopy they found a tumor she immediately had several tests done and blood work that determined and confirmed that she had cancer. This was a huge shock to our family, this was followed up with several appointments and tests over the next week which we then found out what type of cancer and stage. Our mom was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer, she also has lymph node involvement in her right groin area. At this time she is undergoing 5 days a week of radiation and will endure 3 rounds of chemo therapy. As of January our mom has had to go on leave from her job as a flight attendant she was able to keep her insurance during this time but has to pay a very high premium to keep this during treatment, we started this page to help with those premiums and help with medical costs and experiences while out of work. Every day has been a new battle, but she has continued to stay strong and keep a very positive attitude. Thank you all so much for your love, and prayers it really has lifted her spirits!
