Send Colton to Maoriland Film Fest

Donation protected
Colton Willier, a 9 year old Cree & Blackfoot film maker has been invited to screen his second film, “Shirtnami” at Maoriland, a prestigious film festival in Ōtaki, New Zealand, halfway across the world! “Shirtnami” was made when Colton was 8 years old and has screened at DreamSpeakers (Edmonton, AB), Indigenous Film Festival (Pine Ridge, SD USA), Native Spirit Film Festival (London, England), and Red Nation (Los Angeles, CA USA) so far. He has been the youngest film maker at these festivals. It is really quite an accomplishment! The Maoriland invitation is an opportunity of a lifetime. Attending Maoriland will give Colton and his mom the opportunity to promote their heritage and culture, to connect with Maori artists and cultural institutions, and to see amazing films they can’t see anywhere else. Colton will meet other filmmakers, broadcasters, and festival directors, and hopefully inspire others to get into filmmaking. Colton really loves the process of bringing his stories to life, and it has been an exciting thing to see how far his films have traveled and who they impact.
