Who was Laura Elena?
Laura Castro owned an Aveda Salon named Worx Salon for more than 20 years in the Duncanville/Cedar Hill communities. She believed in being part of something bigger than herself. She believed in giving back to the community and pouring into others to help them grow personally to achieve their dreams and goals. Any given day, we would hear her say," You get what you want in life by helping others get what they want in life." It's the principle of sowing and reaping. Sow into others and they will reap, yet so will you.

Who was Laura Elena to us personally?
She was more then a boss to us! She was our friend, mentor, sister and sometimes a mother. She poured so much of herself into us, her time, her wisdom , her unconditional love. She viewed her business as a ministry. Almost daily she could be found praying for her employees and customers. She would go from chair to chair throughout the salon and pray for the success of the employee working at that station AND the customer who would be sitting in that chair. She lived her faith and inspired us to live at the same depth with the same boldness.

Why carry Laura's Legacy?
In December, 2010 our Laura Elena went to her ultimate reward, eternity with our Heavenly Father. Just a few months later we felt that her legacy must continue and on June 28, 2011, Laura Elena Salon and Spa was born! We opened our doors with six employees in a small (converted) house in old town Cedar Hill, very much like Laura's original location on Main St. in Duncanville.


We believe that a void had been left in our community and a deep wound in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. A strong determination rose up within us to carry on her vision, to be a place in the community that people could come and " just be themselves." A place to laugh, cry, receive prayer and/or healing and to feel beautiful. We want to carry on the business integrity she was known for and hopefully fill a small piece of the void we all felt.

Why partner with us?
Laura Elena Salon and Spa is now being given the opportunity to move into the space that was once occupied by Worx Salon at Uptown Village in Cedar Hill. This was our home until the doors closed in July, 2010. It is such an honor for us to take on this challenge. We can't help but to see the hand of God and His mighty plan to continue the vision He placed in her, which she obediently carried out, and He has now placed in us.

In order to make this a reality there are some expenses not covered by our long term agreement with the current owner. This is where our friends and family can support us in this endeavor to not only carry Laura's legacy but resurrect this legacy in the same space she once occupied! Talk about a full circle story! We are praying to raise $12,000 or above over the next four weeks to help us with these expenses. Your generosity will help give the interior a much needed face lift, help purchase inventory and install our sign. Just let that sink in for a moment.......
