Round 2 Deb’s Cancer Treatment Fund

As many of you are already aware, Deb was diagnosed with oral cancer in September of 2017. October 26th she underwent major surgery to get the tumor in her tongue removed and her tongue reconstructed. We were thrilled to learn that the cancer had only progressed to stage 2 and as such no additional treatment was required. However, a few weeks ago Deb began experiencing discomfort in the back of her throat. After further inspection we have recently learned that the cancer appears to have returned. The final biopsy results will tell us more. So what does that mean? What are the next steps? Deb will undergo 30 days of radiation and chemo therapy. She will have a PIC line and a feeding tube as her oral cavity will be too tender to eat. The first two weeks of treatment are relatively easy however by the third week things tend to get rough. Two weeks post treatment is when the “radiation burst” occurs and the discomfort reaches its all time high. Consistent rest will be the key. We are so grateful for the generosity we received with the first round of treatment. However, those funds have all gone towards her surgery and post op care. This next round of treatment will create an entirely new round of medical bills. Bills that will be difficult to manage on a fixed income. This is why we have opted to create a second gofundme campaign. Should you be lead to assist with this cause fiscally we would receive it with immense gratitude.
