Linda A Glunt Williams Relief Fund

On Oct 6th, 2013 my beautiful, loving wife of over 10 years, my best friend, and friend to everyone, was critically injured. She is one of the most unselfish compassionate people I have known. Linda has always put others in front of her own needs, as all that know her would say the same. After 3 long weeks which seem like months, she has finally made it out of the ICU and into a regular room. They are still uncertain of a release date, but I feel it probably will be another week or two at least. After which, the doctors are saying she will need anywhere from 6 months to a year to recover in a mental and physical care facility. It is a possibility she may recover to a point for outpatient therapy much sooner, but I wish not to be too optimistic just yet.
Due to the government shut down it wasn't until a few days ago we found out we have been denied coverage from Access, SSI and Disability. We are pursuing other options for help, but it is certainly going to be more than any normal family with modest means can endure. With the economic situation several years back meant taking a job with less pay and for the first time not having health insurance. I am certain there are many others out there with similar situations and I know I am not alone. We did what we needed to survive, but I still can't help but feel I have let her and my family down in doing so. Linda would certainly be too proud to ask for help, even if she could, wouldn't. So it is with great humility that I ask on her behalf and our family. I want to thank everyone in the for the tremendous out pouring of support of thoughts, and prayers. However any monetary donation whatever the amount is greatly needed and appreciated to help with what is assured to be a tremendous debt.
Thank you all So very much for everything in Hers, Mine and Our hour of need:

For those who may be further interested in more, I will go on a bit with some more detail:

It is still unclear what happened but we believe she either tripped or collapsed and fell head on into our dining room table after coming out of the downstairs bathroom. We had just finished watching a movie and eating dinner together when Dylan and I went upstairs. She had made buttermilk fried chicken and mac-n-cheese made from scratch for our Sunday night dinner. She was really proud of how it turned out and told me she was preparing a plate to take over to one of our neighbors. Later I found she had the plates made up but never made it to deliver them. Thankfully our smart dog Sydney came up to our bedroom upstairs and alerted me that something was wrong, or we may not have found her until later, and with certainty would have been too late.

I found Linda unresponsive in a pool of blood with massive hematomas to the left side of her face and head. Her beautiful blue eyes were barely seen through slits and were glossed over. I thought surely she was dead and the sight still haunts me today. Two trauma doctors one at a time finally came out to talk with Dylan and myself, after several hours of waiting, but what seems like days later. They both told us that she was pretty much brain dead and would not make it through the night. Shortly after there was a third doctor, a neuro-surgeon that came out and said there is a radical procedure they could try that may safe here life, but also might kill her. It was explained if we did nothing she would be in a coma indefinably. He had to drill a hole into her brain and inject anti-coagulant to dissolve and then drain out the blood that was putting pressure on the brain causing the coma. But he warned it could also cause her to hemorrhage to death. So with nothing to lose and Linda's only chance, I gave permission for him to try. She defied all odds and after the operation started to come slowly out of the coma, but still in very critical condition.

They are not calling it an aneurism or a stroke because the bleeding was too extensive, and not inside a lobe of the brain, as most cases are. The bleeding was due to head trauma resulting from the fall and the several blood vessels that broke and was bleeding to the hollow areas inside the brain called ventricles. So there is some good news in that she should not have any paralyzation to work though. However there is still tissue damage to the brain. She had been intubated for 12 days and had the tube in her brain draining blood for over 2 weeks. She battled several infections, fevers and pneumonia. She is one tough woman and a testament to human will and the power of prayer. She is expected to regain 90% or more and up to a full recovery but will take 6mo-year to do so. She will soon now need a rehabilitation facility to learn how to walk again and regain day to day skills we all take for granted.

I would like to close with a few positive thoughts as there is good that has come from this near tragic situation. I have spoken to friends and family more often in the last several weeks than probably all of this year combined. I have gotten closer to Brittany and Dylan our children, Linda's parents Ernie, Yvonne and her brother Eric. I find it interesting in Human nature that things tend sometimes to be taken a little for granted, and that until they are taken from us can we truly begin to understand how much our loved ones truly mean to us. It seems to me we don't gather near enough in celebrations of life such as birthdays, graduation or holidays. Life is too busy and seems to get in the way. But in contrast funerals or near fatal accidents draw us back and even closer together than before, and have a way of putting things into proper perspective.

For those that kept reading, I thank you all yet once again. These extra words hopefully too will help explain a little more in depth to all of her seemingly endless line of friends. I can only say the good Lord decided not to take Linda from us and she will now certainly have more time to share her love with all of us, and for us to share our love with her.
