As some of you may know our mother passed away on January 17, 2018. Leaving behind her husband of 45 years. Fred and Sally married in May of 1972 and soon after Fred went to serve in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Upon his return he continued his career in the Navy at the Naval Station Great Lakes in Waukegan Illinois. They welcomed their first child Charles Frederick Kidwell III in 1974. During this time Sally was a stay at home mom and Fred worked hard to support his family. A few years later while stationed at the Marine Corp Air Station at Cherry Point North Carolina I was born in 1977. During this time Sally was a stay home mom but would baby sit for extra money for our home. After leaving the Navy my parents brought us back to Indianapolis to be near family and friends. During these years they raised us and worked hard to make sure we had a loving home. Sally babysat, cleaned homes, and worked for The American Council for the Blind when we were young. A few years later we moved to Franklin Township and mom went to work for Franklin Central High School as the ever dependable lunch lady. Over the years, dad worked for Community Hospital, Westfield Hospital, Columbus Regional Hospital and The Indiana Regional Blood Center. They also both worked part time at Lowe’s Home Improvements. Dad relisted in the United States Navy Reserve in 1990 and served 12 month on a medical Navy ship during The Gulf War.After a long struggle with Osteoarthritis mom had two knee surgeries within four years of each other. She was unable to work on feet and retired from Franklin Township Schools after over 20 years of service. Dad retired from the United States Navy in 2002 and The Indiana Regional Blood Center in 2014. Always wanting to stay busy dad currently works part-time at Home Depot.Unfortunately due to the sudden severe illness of our mom he has had to take time off work to be with his wife and children. Mom spent seven days in the Critical Care Unit at St. Francis Hospital and passed away leaving uncertainty as to what insurance will cover and funeral expenses. My family has been blessed with emotional support from family and friends during this difficult time.Thank you for your prayers and continued support.
