Send Soldier's to LT Putnam's Funeral
Donation protected
Requesting help to fund Paratroopers who are trying to
attend their fallen Lieutenant's Funeral.
The details are as follows: around 8:30 PM on 18 October 2013, 1LT Sean
Putnam, exited his vehicle to help a woman whose vehicle had broken down in the
center of I-285. While assisting her
second vehicle hit him and the car he was assisting resulting in his death and
a four car pileup (News Article).
In the Aftermath of the accident, LT Putnam's Paratroopers were requested by the family to perform funeral details to include the 21-gun salute at the funeral in Vermont. On 28 October 13, the young men were informed by the Army that there was no available funding to send them and that the funeral details are being provided by Soldiers from Fort Drum, NY. This page is to help these young men from Fort Bragg, NC meet the family's wishes and attend the funeral this weekend.
All travel for this trip is being coordinated for free by AMEX Travel.
Current rough estimates:
- Rental vehicles (3 vehicles for 4 Days): $400
- Lodging on drive (3 Rooms for 1 night each way): $1100
- Lodging at funeral (3 Rooms for 2 nights): $350 (Bereavement Rate),
- Fuel (3 vehicles, 1600 miles): $750
- Meals (10 men, $15 a meal): $2,250
- 10% Buffer: $500
- Site and GoFundMe Fees: $420
- Total Cost: $5,770 or $577 a person
The hope is to fully fund the trip for the Paratroopers in regards to food and gas. Any money that is goes beyond sending these 10 Paratroopers to the Funeral will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project in remembrance of Sean in place of flowers by the family's request.
