Brookelynne Shannon is an 8th grade student athlete at Burns Middle School. A basketball and volleyball player that is fighting for her life. Around Christmas time she became sick with the flu. The Tamiflu provided no relief and Brookelynne was seen three times at the ER in Owensboro. High fever, unbearable chest pains, low oxygen levels, low blood pressure and no relief from morphine led them to Norton's Hospital in Louisville on New Years Day. She now has pneumonia. She has been receiving breathing treatments, is on a ventilator, received a paralytic, had a chest tube put in place to drain fluid off of her lungs, and still feels horrible. She was making some progress until yesterday when during a breathing treatment, her oxygen levels dropped out. She was moved to a different ventilator, which she was unable to tolerate, so they put her back on the original one. She started to lose circulation in her toes so they gave her medication for that. Her doctor said if her oxygen doesn't stay consistently where it needs to be her next option is an artificial lung. Please, most importantly, pray for this sweet girl and her family. And as we all know, being hospitalized in another city will financially be difficult. If you can, and are willing to donate, please consider doing so.
