Crushing Cancer

Our son Rylan was your average 2 year old boy, full of life and energy. Always on the go. On Friday, February 16, 2018, little did we know the challenge we were about to be faced with and how our lives would be changed forever. It’s a parents worse nightmare to hear your child has CANCER. An innocent 2 year old boy who deserves to be healthy and happy. We now know first hand what it feels like. It all started with a fever on the night of February 14 and we noticed Rylan wasn’t acting himself. Like he had no energy and wouldn’t eat anything. The next day, February 15, we noticed these tiny red spots coming up all over his body. He had started to become pale as well and his bruising especially on his legs had become more than your everyday toddler boy bruising. He ran fever again that night. The next day, February 16, we made a trip to the pediatrician’s office. I was sure I was taking my baby in for a positive flu test but the flu test came back negative. Next they did a finger prick CBC. The results came back and Rylan’s hemoglobin and blood cell count were low. He was anemic. They then sent us to LMC to have further blood work drawn, At this point I knew something was wrong with my child. Within a few hours Rylan was admitted to the children’s hospital and diagnosed with B Type Acute Lymphoblastic LEUKEMIA. He will start chemo therapy treatments February 20 and will have them every Wednesday. We are asking for donations for unexpected medical expenses and help while mom and dad are out of work to take care of our sweet boy. Please keep Rylan in your prayers and our entire family for it has taken a toll on everyone.
