Medical Cost For Hicks Family

Donation protected
This December has been a nightmare for our family. Hudson came down with croup the 2nd week of December. He fully recovered and ended up getting croup again on Christmas. He went downhill quickly, and ended up in the urgent care the next morning. That evening he also went back to the ER with respiratory issues. He had severe retractions and was given Racemic Epinephrine. The next day we went right back to the ER because Hudson became lethargic and his breathing was labored. We were transported via ambulance to Cook Children’s Ft. Worth. Hudson was immediately admitted and stayed in the Hospital overnight. He was diagnosed the second time with Croup, but this time he was also RSV positive. Scariest time in our lives.... so we thought.

2 days later Easton formed an awful cough. We went to the pediatrician and he was diagnosed with a Cold. We went back the next couple days to track his progress and the pediatrician said not to worry and just to monitor him. Well he got worse, he began to retract forcefully. We took him in 1/1/18 and he was immediately admitted and diagnosed with a positive RSV test. He was put on high flow oxygen and we were told we were going to be placed in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. We did not understand the extent of this until we walked into his room and it was full of machines and monitors. Easton was hooked up to everything you could think of. He was on high flow oxygen, had a feeding tube placed down his nose and into his stomach, poked with countless needles and placed on a table covered in wires. Seeing your 6 week old scream and cry while gasping for air is not anything you want to witness.

So here comes another wrench in the machine. Christina is on non paid maternity leave and we have gone to the doctor between Hudson and Easton a total of 17 times this Christmas break. We have spent over $2,700 before hospital stays. We have an overnight stay in the hospital for Hudson, and so far a PICU stay for Easton.I hate asking for help, but we don’t know what else to do. If you would like to help out, we are forever grateful. If you cannot or don’t want to, positive vibes and prayers are more than welcome.
