MiniMed 670G Insulin Pump

I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was 9 years old. I don't remember what life is like without needles, blood sugar checks, and counting carbs for every meal.

Over the 33 years I've been managing this disease, technology has grown incredibly.  When I was 9, I used animal based insulin and took about 7 shots in one day. Now, there is an insulin pump that has been called "the outside pancreas." It's a dream come true for Type 1 diabetics.

I've worn an insulin pump for over 4 years and it's now out of warranty. Insurance covers part of the cost for a replacement, but I still have a large amount to pay out of pocket. 

The Mini Med 670G insulin pump is the newest piece of equipment that can help me keep my blood sugars in control and allow me to live a life as normal as possible. It also includes a continuous glucose monitoring system that checks my blood sugars every 5 minutes and warns me of dangerous high and low blood sugars. As I've gotten older, it's been harder to recognize a low blood sugar and I've been in dangerous situations often in the last 3 months. With this device, that will no longer happen.

The 670G can adjust to my body's insulin needs every five minutes and can administer insulin for high blood sugars and suspend insulin when I'm low, all on it's own.

An insulin pump that functions like an "outside pancreas" will help me avoid further complications from this disease, however, it comes at a very high price.
Any amount raised over what's needed for the pump will go to ordering supplies for the insulin pump, which is an ongoing cost for as long as I wear it.

I have approximately one month to raise this amount.
