Support my Cello Music

As a child my first love was music. Music was everywhere in my family. My father, Manuel Cavazos, played his guitar and carried his voice as the rest of the family followed with harmony. I wanted to be just like my dad. One night he bought me a harmonica. I played it with all my might as he strummed the guitar, sifting through the lack of structure with ease.

I would improvise to all sorts of sounds I would hear on piano. I would create single harmonies by whistling to what I heard. I wasn't sure what I was doing but it consumed me.
Cello then stole my heart in fifth grade. I was handed a hunk of wood with strings in class after my father proudly directed me. This was the start of a life time commitment and relationship with the cello.

Although I was eager, I was unsure of where to start with the cello. My dad bought a instruction book and taught himself how to play. Side-by-side he sat down with me, showed me where to put my fingers. I have had support from him and my whole family ever since. Instead of homework I would practice my cello. Cello became the air that I breathed.

Cello is my love, but along my journey I have also learned guitar and bass guitar. Eventually my dad and I started playing at wine bars and coffee shops. We were "The Cavazos."

The first time I performed was strange. I was use to the privacy of my room or living room. I didn't know how to adapt to all the faces staring at my every move. It was strange but exciting. I learned to feed off the crowd's reaction.

Although short spurts of fame have thrilled me, I have learned to stay grounded in family and the things I love most. The good music has always followed.
