Medical Bill Madness

Aimee Daniels became ill from a food borne parasite in June of 2013 and after 4 visits to the ER, 2 hospital stays, 12 doctors, countless doctor visits, prescriptions and drugstore runs, was forced to have a serious GI surgery in August. A long and painful week later, I was rushed to the ER for internal bleeding, losing half the blood in my body. The doctor said I was bleeding out so rapidly that I may not survive in the time it took to wheel me down to the OR, where the rupture was sutured. I was given a blood transfusion, and spent 6 weeks bedridden in recovery and going through painkiller withdrawals.
This journey has not been an easy one. Adam and I had to cancel our beautiful backyard wedding we had planned for a year and the shop we opened suffered greatly as Adam bore the brunt of the business as well as taking care of me. Our love is stronger than ever only because of his grace and unrelenting love.
I am still dramatically anemic from the massive blood loss and can do less that half the things I used to. I still spend most days in bed and I hope that changes with time. I have not been able to work at the shop since May.
As you can imagine, our lives and the lives of my family have been suspended as we have all suffered through the roller coaster of this summer and into fall. Adam had to close the shop a handful of days and my parents have taken all their vacation days to feed me when I could not feed myself.
As I lay in bed each day, the dreaded mailman brings medical bill after medical bill, each one larger than the last. As our debt adds up and my health does not bounce back as we had hoped, we feel overwhelmed. We HATE to ask for money but any contribution helps to make this time easier on us. Any gift can help us slowly return to normalcy and start our married life the way any couple deserves to.
