You are invited to take your own walk with Christ and spend a short time in personal reflection and prayer.
My name is Kevin Sullivan from Pretty Amazing Grace Productions and I am producing a Lenten Show called ‘The Way of the Cross’. This show was performed at Providence College for Lent of 2017 and toured throughout Rhode Island for Lent 2018. We are continuing to bring this beautiful message around Rhode Island and also to La Salette Shrine in Attleboro, Massachusetts.
After the run of this show at Providence College ended, it became very clear to me that the message in this show is so beautiful and spiritually moving and we needed to share it with as many people as possible. This is a show for all ages to walk with Christ during His Passion and reflect upon the great gift that He has given us.
‘The Way of the Cross,’ a dramatic performance with music, is composed of Providence College alumni and faculty. The production is directed by Father Matthew Powell, O.P. The presentation is approximately 45 minutes.
The Way of the Cross is an extract from a longer play called, “The Mystery of the Finding of the Cross” by Henri Gheon, the great French dramatist. It is more of a devotional meditation than a play in the usual meaning of the word. It was written in the early 1930s and first performed in Tancremount, France, where it was reported that ‘at every single performance the spectators were so overcome that many in the audience fell on their knees and silence possessed a crowd of five or six thousand people’. It has since been translated into five languages and into English in 1938. The play is performed by four actors who speak for the watchers and characters in the Passion. By words and gestures the Passion story is told.
We are hoping to raise money to offer the show to as many churches as possible at a minimal cost and if possible no cost at all - offset by donations. I greatly appreciate any donations towards this mission to spread this beautiful message revealed in ‘The Way of the Cross’.
