Custom PFRPG Characters Collection For You, New Computer and Pay Some Bills For Me
In mid-October I moved to Butte, Montana, leaving behind Great Falls. Here, I joined my wife, Connie, who has decided to go back to school to earn a Masters degree in Hydrogeology. After just over a month here in Butte, despite filling out over two dozen job applications, I am still without employment and we have bills to pay, and the savings won't hold out forever.
To make matters worse, my computer is dying. A computer is necessary for me as a way of doing online job searches, but also as a source of communication with friends and family and as a source of secondary income as an RPG freelancer. I have work I am doing for Purple Duck Games (who bought my company - 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming - in January) and one other publisher is expecting some proposals from me, at the very least. If I don't have a computer, I can't get that work done, I can't search for a day job easily, and it forces all email and communications to my smartphone, which works but isn't ideal.
So, I'm asking for your contributions to help me get a new computer, and to pay other household bills.
But - I don't want charity. I'm not asking for handouts. I intend to work for this. So, I'm appealing to the tabletop RPG gamers out there - specifically PFRPG gamers. If you help me out here, I'll do something for you in return.
Here's the plan:
$5 - You get a custom PFRPG character, with a character back story, created using a popular character generation software. I will ask you to give me up to 5 words and I will create your character based on those words. For instance, you might say, "Male dwarf fighter with falchion" or "Evil female half-orc barbarian". The character is 1st level and you get a PDF of the character sheet and the .por file, so you can further customize the character yourself, including leveling up. No one else gets the .por file of your character. This character could be used by a GM as an NPC, handed to a player as a pregenerated PC, or used as a quick replacement PC (with your GM's approval, of course!) after another character dies.
$15 - As $5, but you get 1st, 5th, and 10th level variants of the character.
$25 - As $15, plus your custom character includes an original magic item OR an original spell or feat (depending on character type) - your choice, plus you get a PDF collection of all characters from $5 & $15 levels. LIMIT 100
$30 - As $25, but your custom character includes an original magic item AND an original spell or feat (depending on character type). LIMIT 25
$50 - As $30, plus you get a PDF collection of all characters from $5, $15, $25, $30, & $50 levels (including custom spells, feats, and magic items). LIMIT 25
$250 - As $50, plus artwork of your custom character. The artwork will be created by Kristen M. Collins (4 Winds Fantasy Gaming, Purple Duck Games) or Juan Diego Dianderas
and you will be able to download a hi-res version of the artwork. Kristen retains the rights to post the artwork on her deviantART page, Facebook page, etc.. LIMIT 15
$500 - As $250, plus PDF collection of all characters, including smaller scale artwork of other characters embedded in the document. LIMIT 10
I've secured my friends Kristen Collins and Juan Diego Dianderas
to do the custom character artwork for the $250 & $500 level backers. Kristen has done artwork for 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming and Purple Duck Games. Juan Diego has done artwork for 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming, Louis Porter Junior Design, Rite Publishing
Also, my friends Owen K.C. Stephens (Rogue Genius Games), Mark Gedak (Purple Duck Games), and Sean O'Connor (4 Winds Fantasy Gaming, Purple Duck Games) have agreed to help out by creating some of the spells/feats/magic items for the $25 and up levels of this project.

Character creation will begin on December 26, no matter whether I reach the funding goal or not. I will send you a message to ask you for your 5 words, and as soon as I have your character done you will get the PDF and .por files of it. The collections will be put together after all characters have been completed and all artwork completed (the only artwork included in collections will be small scale (1/4 page) versions of custom art created for $250 and $500 level backers).
The characters and collections will be produced under the Open Game License.
