Climb Against Cancer

I have found my meaning and purpose in life through mountaineering. It has taught me a lot and brought me much enjoyment. I wish to give that gift back to others. That is why I have started the campaign, “Climb Against Cancer” as a way to help fund the Cancer Support Community Center of Redondo Beach. All funds raised will be donated to the center. The Center offers over 200 free programs for cancer patients, their families and loved-ones. Their goal is to help as many cancer patients as possible recover from the physical and emotional effects of cancer. Cancer has affected all of us in one form or another either directly, or the loss of a friend or loved one. When someone close to me was diagnosed with cancer we didn’t know where to go or what to do. We found the overwhelming support from the Center. That is why in June, 2018 I will make my second attempt to climb North America’s highest peak, Denali in an effort to raise funds to support the Center’s invaluable programs it has to offer. Denali has some of the worst weather in the world. It is one of the hardest, and coldest in the mountaineers notorious list of the worlds 7 summits.  I feel that climbing such an enormous obstacle as Denali can give those faced with cancer at the Center hope based on the fact we are all powerful beyond measure.
