William's Helmet

William (5 months old) needs a cranial helmet to correct the combination of Deformational brachycephaly & Plagiocephaly that he has had since birth. We have been to multiple neurologists/cranial facial specialists who have all agreed that the helmet is necessary to correct his little head. We have been told that the helmet not only will keep him from being permanently disfigured, but could also proven the need for future surgeries/ problems on his ear canals. Our military insurance (Tricare) does not see the need for cranial helmets, however, and has denied our claim. Their reason is that cranial helmets are "cosmetic, and unnecessary", and "have not been proven safe or effective". Both of these reasons are untrue. We thank each and every one of you for even taking the time to read William's story. In full disclosure, we have taken out a personal loan to pay for the helmet because it is time sensitive, but have registered here at the suggestion of friends and family. Again, thank you all.
