IT HAS BEEN A YEAR SINCE DAD’S INJURY! CAN WE PLEASE TRY TO RAISE SOME MONEY TO HELP MY PARENTS BUY A WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VAN?
Dad has fought amazingly this past year, but he has a long fight ahead of him. They’d love to be able to go to their church meeting, grandkids sporting events, concerts, and their own dr appointments without having to depend on public transportation.  While it has been a blessing these past months, Dad still has to face the elements more than if they had their own vehicle to park in their underground parking garage. Also, they can never go anywhere spur of the moment if necessary.

One year ago today, Dad fell after having a sore back for a couple weeks. I have so many flashbacks from this past year, but this evening last year when the surgeon came in to talk to Dad before they did his spinal surgery he said he would probably never walk again. That was a horribly scary moment, and I’ll never forget the look on his face. But man, how i wish that was the only obstacle that Dad had to deal with this past year! The staph infection wreaked havoc on Dad’s organs, and while it’s been a terrifying year he is still strong and fighting this! Back at the hospital and in ICU fighting pneumonia. Wish I could do more for him! Please help us get #JIMMRNAKSTRONG again and keep him in your thoughts today! ❤️

Thank you for keeping my Dad in your thoughts and prayers!  Please go here if you don't know what happened to him.  www.caringbridge.org/visit/jamesmrnak

I can't thank you all enough for all of your support! Sending help, food, card, coffee, and just being there for Dad and Mom and all of us!  Dad has been through so much. First he fought off the crazy sepsis MSSA staph infection that caused this spinal cord injury! He's still fighting it and will for a long time. Then, he has already overcome incredible odds with his organs failing from the trauma. Next, he coded two times from fluid built-up around his heart and lungs!  If that wasn't enough, his lungs collapsed more than once.  He then had to get a pacemaker and chest tube.  Dad is back on the mend and doing great at Froedtert Hospital!  Dare I say that his health may finally be stable enough to start spinal rehabilitation and get ready to come home!  Of course he will be doing outpatient rehabilitation for a long time after coming home.

Some of you know that we moved Mom and Dad's stuff out of their rental house some time ago to save money and because it is not an accessible place to live. We now found them a wonderful senior living apartment to move into in Appleton and will be starting to set it up in a few weeks.  Besides all of the extra equipment that will be needed for awhile to help take care of Dad, we'd like to make things comfortable and homey for them as much as possible.  Mom and Dad have been married 40.5 years and could use some new stuff! We'd also like to put some food in their freezer and restock their cupboards.  Please let me know if you'd like to help out or share this page if possible! Thank you all for your support and encouragement again during this time! <3 Words can't express the thankfulness.
