Help for Mitch Cooper Medical & Recovery Expenses

Donation protected
On Thursday January 3, while driving his motorcycle, a taxi cab suddenly cut in front of Mitch Cooper and Mitch hit the taxi, flipped up and landed on his motorcycle.

There were serious injuries sustained in the accident including a broken collarbone, 7 broken ribs on his left side and 2 on his right side.  The rib fractures damaged the lungs and a drainage tube was inserted to drain the blood and fluid from the left side.

Because of the volume of blood loss, Mitch found himself in need of a blood transfusion. The hospital only had one unit of his blood type on hand and appeals were made in the local missionary community for blood donors with his blood type.  MANY responded and to date, Mitch has received 5 units of donated blood.

His kidney function has normalized but his lung capacity needs to improve greatly and a fever needs to be brought under control in order to have surgery to repair the collarbone.

Mitch served in the U.S. ARMY for 25 years as an Army Ranger.  Following his retirement, he joined with Camino Global and has been serving as a missionary for the past 5 years in Honduras with community development projects and with maintenance at the Evangelical Hospital in Siguatepeque, Honduras where he lives.

Mitch is receiving excellent care from the hospital and staff. Much of his care is being donated by the staff, as he is very loved!  However, he will have significant expenses for his medications, recovery, and hospitalization costs that the staff will be unable to cover.  Any monies that remain after Mitch's expenses are covered will be donated to the Evangelical Hospital.

This fund is being set up by Tim and Julie Nelson, missionaries with Camino Global - Mitch's co-workers. We all live in Siguatepeque, Honduras. While Mitch was in the hospital we have been paying all his bills: hospital, medicine, X-Rays, CT scans, ambulance transportation to another clinic for tests.  We also paid for materials to up grade Mitch's bathroom so he could recover at home. When the funds we have reimbursed to us, Mitch will use the rest of the funds to pay a helper at his house. All other funds that are raised above our costs will go to Hospital Evangélica - (where Mitch volunteers). They have given him excellent care and discounted his stay.

Thank you so much for your help!
