The Squawk-a-Cause for Alison

Donation protected

How does one sum up Alison in a few words? Effervescent, hilarious, giving, honest, true, generous, persistent, strong, loved. She is so loved. Alison is an amazing mother to sweet Lucy and a devoted wife & best friend to Sarah. Alison has one of the biggest hearts you'll ever encounter and she is always willing to help, to listen, to be there for the people in her life. It is our turn to be there for her and her family now.

Recently Alison was diagnosed with Endometriodal Adenal Carcinoma. She has already undergone a full hysterectomy and began Chemotherapy on Friday, December 8, 2017. The course of treatment will consist of three months of Chemo, an intense period of Radiation (5 weeks, 5 days a week), and three additional months of Chemo. Alison, Sarah, and Lucy just moved from their long-time home in Austin, TX to Los Angeles, CA, where Sarah is in her first year of medical school. Because they are so far away from their support group of Texas friends we cannot cook for them, care for Lucy, or clean their home. We cannot swing by the grocery store or run to the pharmacy for them. We cannot drive Alison to her treatments or hold her hand like we all want so badly to do. But we can make it possible for them to get the help they need, to pay some of the medical bills, to support Alison in healing. This is going to be an arduous journey, and the doctors have made it clear that Alison will be unable to work during treatment.

Please help Alison, Sarah, and Lucy as they face this unexpected hurdle. If you know Alison and Sarah you know that they tough and tenacious. They knew that putting Sarah through med school while raising little Lucy in a new city without their Austin people was not going to be easy, but they do not shy away from challenges. This sudden diagnosis of cancer, the immediate surgery and the aggressive course of treatment is a shock from which we are all still reeling, but there is no time for disbelief or inaction. Alison is in there fighting already, and we are right by her side. Won't you join us?
