Melanoma; Dad is stronger

Donation protected
This man with a heart of gold is Dad. He’s a solid rock in our family and he is in a terrific fight for his life. We remain hopeful in the latest treatment options for him. He is smiling through the pain. Please help in any way possible. Here is his journey.

In early October Dad was experiencing dizzy spells and cognitive degrade. After CT scan and MRI’s it was determined he had a large mass in the upper right back brain. After further testing and more thorough labs the mass on his Liver was a size of a tennis ball. No symptoms as far a jaundice etc. the liver tumor although larger in size was quietly progressing. He was than driven to UCSF in San Francisco, very distinguished facility in Northern California for specialty care, for new trial treatments being offered in all cancer and a renowned Melanoma clinic.
Dad had a successful neurosurgeon to remove the brain tumor. Cutting a half moon shape from his skull. A week after the surgery we are back to tackle the Liver. As Dad has been in Stage 4 for some time; that’s what is not on our side. Disease is progressing and traveling and he became weak, sick, dehydrated and not able to eat. No appetite and lost 20lbs. He is in the throws of horrid systematic effects from tumor trauma. He is smiling and laughing and walking but relying on fluids and proteins to help with nausea and nutrition.
Dad is undergoing immunotherapy, promising treatment for those with Melanoma. This therapy works in hand with your immune system. Have your cells target and attack the imposter cancer cells, but your immune system needs help. Yet, this treatment is time released and every 3 weeks. We look 9-12 weeks if the tumors are shrinking and that his body is responding.
The funds are for skilled nursing to keep Dad afloat comfortably and medically monitored during and after these infusions. For travel and hotels as they are traveling 4 hours for these treatments. He is fighting and working and we are hoping and all with him. Thank you all again for your support. Stay tuned for updates and status on his response to treatments.
