Eleanor- Heroic Mother Needing Surgery

Eleanor came to our shelter on October 1- a good samaritan found her. She was shoo'd away from house to house and finally found quiet behind a dumpster to give birth. She was lethargic, barely lifting her head to acknowledge her puppies or any of her rescuers. She was not producing milk and so her puppies were rushed to a foster home. The two survivors- Lennon and Lucy- are doing well and just opened their eyes for the first time! Lennon's weight is now a full pound!





After the first day at the shelter, Eleanor received much needed nutrition and perked up! She was diagnosed with demodex -the non-contagious form of mange. She was given a medicated bath, antibiotics, and was on her way to a clean bill of health!





However, she has taken a turn for the worse. She started bleeding heavily and was rushed to the veterinarian for an emergency blood transfusion and exploratory surgery. It was found that a tick-borne disease was the cause of her anemia and heavy bleeding.


Her uterus will have to be removed- it is the only way to save her life.


Please help us save this heroic mother. Her surgeries, hospital stay, and medicine will have a cost of $1500. We cannot give up on her.
