Makael’s Burn Journey

My name is Amanda, and I am trying to help out my friend makael and his family. Last Monday evening, he was playing with several cousins and hike trying to move a chair he tripped and fell into a fire pit. His parents rushed him to West Florida hospital. He was transferred to USA burn center in mobile since he suffered facial burns. I took makaels mother to mobile, her power steering had gone out in her car and she didn’t have a safe way to get there. He was transported via ambulance and his father accompanied him. Makael is lucky that most of his recovery will Be cosmetic, however over half of his beautiful face was badly burned. As any parent would do, his parents have missed work to be with there child. The family home is in need of much repair and our church is so graciously going to help with that as much as possible. It’s he holidays and Christmas is supposed to be a great time of giving and Joy. My number one concern is a good, Clean, safe environment for him to heal properly. If funds become available to allow him to be Santa to his family that would be wonderful. He is not supposed to be outside much(only with large hat) due to risk of reburn and infection. This is very tough on a 9 year old football star! He was recently selected for the community football allstar team and although he won’t be able to play, he will be able to take part! Makael is also missing a lot of school so anything I can do to put a smile on his face, I am willing to do!
