Dear Friends and Family,
On January 19th 2014 I have the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. to take part in the Close up: Washington program. This weeklong program gives me the opportunity to experience our government in action and gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence that I will need in order to be an engaged citizen and help change our future.
While in Washington, D.C. I will have the opportunity to experience firsthand the history, politics and culture of the nation's capital. I will also be able to participate in a variety of hands on activities such as small group workshops, seminars with Washington, D.C. journalists, lobbyists, and embassy officials, and meeting with members of Congress and their staffs. Furthermore, I will learn from and debate with my peers from across the country and be exposed to different attitudes and perspectives concerning our county.
Most of you know that I plan on attending Texas Tech University next fall and am enrolling in Pre-Law studies. I believe that this opportunity will not only give me an advantage in my future studies but will also benefit my understanding of our capital by having the real life exposure.
While, I am currently attending my senior year at Katy High School I am also working and dedicated to saving money for this trip and my future studies. The all- inclusive program cost is $1737.00 which includes instruction, travel, expenses, meals and lodging. I am reaching out to each and every one of you because all of you have contributed to the person that I have become today. I have learned that I have to work hard for things that are important to me and that sometimes is ok to ask for assistance. If possible I am requesting a donation of any amount that can help me achieve the goal of experiencing this awesome and patriotic opportunity.
Since being able to make this trip is based predominately on the money I am able to fundraise, along with the money I am able to work for and save on my own, we have set up this easy, safe, and secure GoFundMe account in order to make donating your contributions as seamless and convenient as possible.
