Keeonah: Femoral Head Ostectomy Fund

Meet Keeonah-
She is a 9month old Husky with severe hip dysplasia & luxation (dislocation). She came to the shelter a month ago and to date, Keeonah's hip has popped out of socket twice. Currently, her pain is being managed, but there is more that we can do for her. After veterinary consultations and X-rays, it is necessary that Keeonah undergo surgery- a Femoral Head Ostecomy (FHO) to be exact.
For a femoral head ostectomy- the femoral head is cut off and removed, allowing the joint to heal as a "false joint." It is referred to as a salvage procedure, reserved for condition where pain can not be alleviated in any other way.
Without this surgery, Keeonah's hip will a)continue to pop out of place or b)maintain its "out of socket" position, as many veterinarians refuse to continuously perform a closed reduction, that is, manipulating the hip back into the socket. However, without the aid of a general anesthetic, this maneuver can be very painful. Both of these options will require extensive and lifelong pain management.
She is only 9 months old.
The FHO is the best option for this beautiful girl.
