Love for Larry

Donation protected
We have struggled with figuring out how to explain this traumatic event to all those who love my brother Larry. We all know him as Big Larry with the big heart, a wonderful friend and loving father who adores his children. It’s nearly impossible for him to go anywhere without knowing someone or making friends along the way. Larry has touched many lives and is loved by so many.

For the past decade, Larry has suffered from varying levels of undiagnosed depression. Ultimately life became too much for Larry to bare and he attempted to take his own life on Tuesday, October 24th. Miraculously, the bullet that entered his chest missed his pulmonary artery by a millimeter, and the quick response from everyone involved saved his life. After surviving through surgery, Larry has expressed that he is thankful to be alive and in his own words, he “was meant to live.” It truly was not Larry’s time to go.

He is currently in the Trauma ICU at OU Medical Center and is not quite out of the woods; however, although he still has a way to go, he is improving and on the path to recovery.

As love for Larry pours in from family and friends, many people are looking for ways they can help and show their love and support but may not know how or what he needs. Therefore, we’ve decided to start this fundraising page to help with insurmountable medical bills, as well as household bills that are piling up. While Larry continues to recover in the hospital, he remains without an income on unpaid medical leave, and we simply don’t know when he will be capable of returning to work.

Larry will be faced with additional expenses as he approaches mental health treatment, a journey that Larry is eager and open to begin. We hope to ease some of this financial burden to give Larry some peace of mind while he concentrates his efforts on making a full recovery, mentally, emotionally and physically.

Please share our fundraiser and consider even a small donation. If you’d like to send Larry a card while he’s in the hospital, please reach out for contact details. Further, if you have a loved one who may be at risk of suicide, take them seriously, let them know how much they are loved and that it is never too late to get help. We were told many times from different professionals that "if they tell you they are going to do it, then they won't" but in the end, we found that not to be true. They can make threats and still act on it.

We all love you Larry and are rooting for you! You survived for a reason and this world needs you.
