Hello! My name is Tara Knowles and my goal is to conquer my fear of public speaking by actively putting myself in front of audiences to raise funds for a wonderful boy with autisim to bring his service dog home from training at a special service dog training facility in Ohio. I will post various videos of myself proposing this fundraising campaign and will post each video on both my personal FaceBook page and on Matthew's Superhero Sidekick FaceBook page. #doitscared
Once we reach $5,000, I will not only speak again in front of an audience, but I will also video record myself singing the "Star Spangled Banner" and post it on FaceBook for everyone to see.
About Matthew:
Matthew is a very special boy who has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and has overcome many obstacles in his 8 years. Along with Autism, he also lives with ADHD, combined type; Anxiety Disorder; Sensory Processing Disorder; and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
Matthew has been accepted for placement of an Autism Assistance Service Dog through the organization 4 Paws For Ability, Inc. in Xenia, Ohio. His service dog began training in January 2014. Matthew’s service dog is being specifically trained to do two very special things for Matthew.
1. He will be trained to “tether.” Matthew will be attached to his service dog via a tether so that the dog will be able to keep Matthew out of dangerous situations.
2. He will be trained in behavior disruption. For this the dog will do various things, such as pawing, nuzzling or kissing, to help Matthew avoid or to disrupt a meltdown or rage.
Once Matthew’s service dog has completed training, on January 4, 2015, his family will travel to Ohio to spend 2 weeks training with his service dog. During this time, Matthew's parents will learn the skills they need to handle a certified service dog and Matthew will begin bonding with his dog. This will be a very expensive trip and they cannot get there without your help.
Your donation will help Matthew and his family make this training trip and together we can bring his service dog home.
