Saving Yoda - parvo puppy

Today a couple stoppped by the center with a dog they found on the street. she was extremely emaciated, scared, and would not eat or drink anything. She also must have recently had a litter of pups, displaying protruded nipples. Volunteers Judy, Manu Puri, Beth Foley, and Patrick McKeever were at the front as well listening to her story being told to staff. as is the centers policy, they could not accept her. I watched as Beth, Patrick, Judy, and Manu stood around deciding how to save this beautiful but scared weak dog. She would not eat or drink, and was in terrible condition. Then I witnessed something amazing and truly inspiring. Manu and Beth decided to drive in Manu's car the dog to an emergency vet care center. Manu grabbed a few blankets, wrapped the dog up and carried her to his car while Beth accompanied him. They drove to an emergency center where they spent hours with the dog. Patrick, Beth's husband informed me that the emergency vet care center informed them that the dog had parvovirus (among other things) and that the cost would be $5000 at least for care. Manu decided to put it on his credit card to get the dog treatment. I believe the dog is now getting much needed care. I wanted to tell this story to all of you because 1) the volunteers that witnessed this will be sharing in the cost (new college intern Madison wants to commit $200, I will commit $1000, not sure what everyone else is committing) but I wanted to see if anyone in this group is willing to share a few dollars to get this dog healthy and 2) I believe Patrick and Beth may foster her for a few weeks until she is able to enter the PAWS intake program but if they cannot, is there someone there who will be able to foster her until she can enter the intake program. I also wanted to take this time to thank everyone especially Beth, Manu, Patrick, Judy for not only reminding me why I do this every week, but inspiring me to work even harder.
