Get Fran To A Hospital Near Home

Hello, my name is Dave and this campaign is for my beloved mother who suffered a critical medical emergency that has left her hundreds of miles from home, friends and family. I want to get her home to a local hospital for her dignity and best chance to recover. Every mother deserves better than what my mom has been offered. On October 30, 2017, Frances Walker (70) and her husband Niles traveled to the Lake Tahoe area for a brief trip to get some rest and relaxation. They have made their home in the Bay Area for over 40 years but would travel to the mountains occasionally to enjoy the scenic beauty. Tragically, shortly after their arrival in Tahoe, Fran experienced a serious medical emergency (stroke) which required her to be airlifted to the hospital in Reno, Nevada. She is currently in the intensive care unit (ICU) attempting recovery at that hospital.
As you can imagine, being hundreds of miles from home does not present the best recovery scenario. This medical emergency has not only displaced Fran and her husband but also her entire family which lives in California. In an effort to ensure her best chance for recovery and provide an opportunity for her friends and family (including her two sons and three grandchildren) to visit her, a request was made to have her transferred to a local hospital near her home in the Bay Area. This request was denied by Medicare and supplemental insurance. Instead, they would prefer to leave Fran hundreds of miles away from home and family as she struggles to survive.
As you can imagine, this unthinkable scenario was unacceptable for the family. A medical air ambulance company was consulted and it was determined that it would cost approximately $15,000 to medically transport Fran home. Both the hospital in Reno and the hospital back home have agreed that the transfer would create the best opportunity for her recovery.
The purpose of this funding campaign is to raise the necessary monies to assist the family in returning Fran to a hospital near home. Returning her home would give her the dignity of not being hundreds of miles away from her support network of friends and family while fighting for survival and would most definitely provide her the best chance of recovery.
