Burial Of An Angel

My name is Debra Oakes, I am the wife of my late husband Dana Oakes. He was recently called home to be with the Lord due to a cancer that we just couldn't beat. Most of y'all who knew Dana, knew that he was a man of faith, he cared more about others than himself, loved everyone with all of his heart and soul. He was a veteran of the navy, served two terms and did all he could for our freedom. Dana worked in the medical field and loved helping whoever and wherever he could. He was a member of St. Clements Episcopal Church and very active in Habitat for Humanity as well as Relay for Life. Since the first diagnosis of cancer, we battled through chemo for 15 weeks, followed by the removal of the left lung, battled again with another 15 weeks of chemotherapy. We were then told he was in remission on June 2, 2017. The picture above was taken Sept 12, 2017, two weeks after that picture, we found out that the lung cancer was back and back with a vengeance. It had already taken control or his lymph system, was in the left lung cavity and spreading all over the right lung. It had spread so quickly and dangerously that neither chemo nor radiation could prolong a quality life. Since the second diagnosis, we both knew and accepted the outcome; although we didn't like it one bit. He was the joy of my life, my Sunshine on a cloudy day, knight in shining armor, my prince, everything I needed him to be and more. I will always cherish the memories we made and live my life as he would want me to. Most of y'all know I'm very stubborn​ and never ask for help but I'm at wits end here and clueless on how to handle this situation. I know I have more support than anyone can every ask for and I'm very gracious for that. Family and friends that were very close know we cashed out his 401k and spent that on medical bills. So, what I'm doing here is trying to raise enough money or as much as I can to help cover funeral expenses. I will say thanks in advance to those who do donate but I also understand that some people can't, so don't feel obligated that you have to. Any and all donations are very appreciated.
