Get Wendy Spicy Chicken Nugget Home!

This is the last thing Wendy's moms wanted to do, but so much is up in the air right now. Wendy loves road trips, sitting in her car seat, looking out the window, and falling asleep with her little face resting on the side. We wanted to give her a unique opportunity to spend time in a very dog friendly city, being spoiled and carried around like the special girl she is, while seeing new outdoor sites. Unfortunately, she's now spent the past 48+ hours at DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital in Portland, OR. Her suspected diagnosis is non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema secondary to airflow obstruction. Basically, Wendy got stressed and worked herself up, and started having trouble breathing. The ensuing domino effect caused airway inflammation and fluid in her lungs. She's currently in an oxygen cage receiving maintenance IV fluids, as well as steroids to help with the inflammation. She's making progress, but after two days she still needs oxygen supplementation to help her breathe. We were supposed to fly home tomorrow but after consulting with her doctors at DoveLewis and a few of the amazing doctors we work with at VSCD, we know that's not going to happen. We've cancelled our flight, found a new place to stay, and are keeping our girl hospitalized as long as she needs it. Unfortunately (financially), we're veterinary nurses. Anyone in this field knows what that means. We get paid about 1/4-1/3 what human nurses make. DoveLewis is graciously extending us their 20% off professional courtesy discount, even though we're from clear across the country. However, Woo is still racking up $700+ everyday she's hospitalized. That doesn't include all the changes we've had to make, unexpectedly having to stay in Portland at least 2 more days. We'll make it work. It's just money; it comes and goes. Wendy is our #1 priority. Anyone that has met her will understand. She is the single most loving animal I've ever met. The staff at DoveLewis have already fallen in love with her. If you can help, thank you.
