Lisa Strong, Ovarian Cancer Returns

Donation protected
I was shocked to hear my cancer had returned after over a year, I had no symptoms! Last August, I found out that my Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer had recurred. This was certainly tough news to hear, but I quickly got in action to deal with it. My instincts are to always see what can be done, to notice all I have to be grateful for, and to be focused on my return to full health.

Twenty three years ago, I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, and was successfully treated with chemotherapy and radiation. I learned from that experience how to advocate for myself within the healthcare system, and that it was essential to take special care of the whole person, my body, mind and spirit. I learned many valuable lessons and also understood the toll the therapies took on my body, my immune system in particular.

One of the unfortunate side effects of my last chemo treatments in 2012, was that my teeth were weakened. I had 4 teeth crack and chip to the point where I now need to have root canals and crowns for each of them. I'm very concerned that this year's chemo will cause more dental issues, but, I can only deal with what's happening now.

I'm on this site to ask for your help with medical and dental bills, as well as holistic treatments not covered by insurance. The key to doing well during chemotherapy and beyond, is to take as good care of myself as possible. Besides the occasional burger and fries, I eat a healthy diet, take vitamins and supplements that are recommended by my doctor, and receive holistic treatments that lessen the side effects of chemo and keep me in a positive frame of mind.

What I'm Asking For:
I've started to have some of the work done and it's very expensive. My fixed income will not begin to cover these high costs. You see, I was already disabled from adrenal insufficiency since 2006. The dental work is estimated at $9,000. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I have a wonderful dentist who is very caring and compassionate, and is patient about being paid the full amount.

I've also been seeing a very gifted doctor who has identified my food and seasonal allergies, recommending allergy drops, vitamins and supplements to create optimal health. I believe it's because of him that I was feeling better from my adrenal issues, have done well during chemo and recovering well from each round. He's been waiting patiently almost 2 years for full payment of $2,900, and I'd dearly love to see him paid soon.

I'm lucky enough to have a few special people in my life that are gifted holistic practitioners in acupuncture and energy work such as Reiki and polarity therapy. With their help I've see many improvements in body, mind and spirit. They've eased the challenging road of dealing with the effects of toxins in my body, and the whole roller coaster ride of a cancer experience. I'd be very fortunate to be able to receive their healing services over the next several months of chemo and through the months of recovery after, at an estimated cost of $3,100.
My overall goal is to raise $15,000.

I'm so grateful.....
My heartfelt thanks go to my beloved and talented nephew, John Des Roches, for his filming and editing of the video, but mostly for his loving and compassionate coaching through the process.

I'm already deeply touched by everyone's outpouring of love and support. You give me hope, bolster my faith, and fill my heart. I'm so very hopeful that I can return to full health soon so I can help others touched by cancer once again.

I'm grateful for all you've done and for giving me the greatest gift of YOU in my life!
With love and gratitude,
Lisa
