Dad's Funeral Expenses

Our dad, Michael Francis Ferrara, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday October 5, at the age of 72. He was a simple man that always keep his feelings to himself and never expressed his wishes for his funeral. He fought for our country in the early part of the Vietnam War in the Fighting SeaBee's division of the Navy and was very proud of this. He thought he had prepared for his funeral expenses but unfortunately had not purchased the proper type of policy. After going through all of his paperwork, he only had accidental death coverage. We are doing our best to make his funeral happen as we think he would want it to be. He left nothing to assist in his funeral expenses. We have contacted the VA and they will cover the plot at their cemetery and headstone as part of his service to our country. Neither my sister, a single mother of 3, nor myself really have the means to make this funeral happen as the costs have to be paid expeditiously. I am doing what I can to cover whatever I can. But it's just not enough. In lieu of flowers, we are asking that those wishing to do something to help think of making a donation to this Go Fund Me. Services for our dad are forthcoming. The obituary will be posted on Facebook once we have the final times and day. Thanks for all of your warm wishes and all that you have already done to make these trying times a bit more bearable. If by some miracle the goal is met or exceeded, the difference will be donated to the Veterans Association in his name.
