Hi Everyone! Thank you so much for taking the time to check out our project’s page! I am a 3rd year student at Chapman University majoring in Film Production. I started working on this film during my freshman year of college, and I am so excited to bring it to life as my Junior Advanced Production project with my incredible team.
The Film
Living in a dysfunctional home, 10 year old Kate finds comfort in playing piano with her caring neighbor, Alan. However, the night she needs him most, he is taken away from her.
Director's Statement
As a filmmaker, my purpose is to shed light on important social issues. I want to touch audiences and leave them with new views and perceptions. We have become so overwhelmed with daily news stories from so many different sources, it has become easy to desensitized ourselves to current violence and injustice in our country today. This is why I am making “For Kate”. Through this film, I want to create a compelling narrative to return that element of humanity that gets lost through news articles. Telling the story through a child’s perspective represents a less-biased, more innocent perception of the world and the people in it.
The Budget
We are extremely excited to start creating this film, but with any short film, there comes the funding. All the money will go to helping make this film a reality! Money will help us with the following:
• Studio Teacher
• Casting
• Production Design
• Equipment Rentals
• Crafty
• Permits
• Locations
• Picture Car Rentals
