I am a happily married hard worker, jack of all trades. Father of an amazing 7 year old kid and most importantly, the main source of income to my family.
I have always been a very physically active person, even competing in many sports disciplines.
Unfortunately, in 2012 I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and ulcerative colitis, which turned my life upside down. As a result, I lost 50 lbs in less than 8 weeks, my body ached up to the point that I found walking or even standing painfully excruciating, not to mention the inability to sleep through the night due to having to go to the bathroom about every hour, sometimes more than 25 times a day.
After 4 months and several experimental treatments, the doctors were able to find a way to put my sickness in remission (with special medication), leaving me almost symptom free. At this point, my life savings were gone and had a debt of almost $40000 dollars in medical and credit card bills, which I started paying on my own.
2 years ago, my insurance stopped paying for the medicine and after a couple of months they offered me only a cheaper version of it, sending me down spiraling into a relapse. I lost close to 40 lbs, went out of work for 3 months and once again found my self in high debt (close to $45000 dollars), amount that keep always growing. Since I am the main income source to my family, we had to use every single credit card we have to cover for daily expenses, doctor appointments and everything that comes with sickness.
Now, 2 years after fighting with the pain and symptoms, I was able to recover most of my colon. Last week, my doctor started a process with a new medication plan, then told me that after this I will need to undergo a set of surgeries, to remove the part of the colon that is still compromised. This procedure has a recovery time of 2 to 3 months, which after insurance deductibles, copayments and work money loses, my debt is calculated to go up $30000 dollars more, without including doctors appointments and medical tests done so far this year.
After a thoughtful consideration, My family and I have made the difficult but important decision of going to #GoFundMe since our current monthly payments exceed $ 1000 dollars, only the minimum payments. Additional to the basic payments (rent, food, transportation, insurance, utilities and other) so this puts us in a position in where the monthly expenses are covered with my 2 jobs and also my wife’s job but we do not have much left ... So this new expense of the surgery and the preparation that I must have arrives at a time in which I am not able to carry on and that is the reason why I am asking for this support, to be able to do it. Since my health is priority to the emotional and economic stability of my home.

Soy muy trabajador, estoy felizmente casado, padre de un niño increíble de 7 años y lo más importante, la principal fuente de ingresos de mi familia.

Hace dos años, mi seguro dejó de pagar el medicamento y después de un par de meses me ofrecieron solo una versión más barata, lo cual me llevo a una recaída. Este procedimiento tiene un tiempo de recuperación de 2 a 3 meses. Luego de los deducibles de seguro, copagos y dinero que perderé por no trabajar varios meses, se calcula que mi deuda aumentará unos $30000 dólares más, sin incluir las citas médicas y exámenes médicos realizados este año.
Después de considerarlo cuidadosamente, mi familia y yo tomamos la difícil pero importante decisión de acudir a #GoFundMe ya que nuestros pagos mensuales actuales superan los $ 1000 dólares, solo los pagos mínimos. Adicionales a los pagos básicos (renta, alimentación, movilidad, seguros y servicios del hogar ) poniéndonos en la situación que los gastos mensuales los cubro con 2 empleos que tengo y el de mis esposa y no me sobra nada... Por lo que este nuevo gasto de la cirugía y la preparación que debo tener, me llega en un momento que no tengo cómo llevarlo a cabo y por eso pido el apoyo para poder realizarlo,.
