Relief For Dominica

On the 18th September, my family members took shelter with many others in their community in the darkness of the night as category 5 Hurricane Maria ravaged the island during this generational storm. The deafening sounds of destruction outside, as water began to flood their home and rip the walls and roofs off above them. Thankfully my entire family survived with their lives, but not much more.
When the storm finally passed they ventured outside and barely recognized their communities. Piles of rubble replaced the homes of their neighbours, their roof gone, vehicles destroyed, there’s no power and they’re being told it might be months before it will be restored, food and water are scarce and unfortunately the streets are becoming unsafe from opportunistic looting and violence… the situation is truly unfathomable.
Most are left with no water or food or electricity. The population of 71,000 residents buried more than 25 of their own with more than 30 still missing or unaccounted for. Dominican sent much of their reserves of emergency supplies to neighbouring islands to help them with their recovery from Irma, weeks earlier. Leaving them crippled to be able to take care of their own.
They need our help. They need the world's help. We are thankful beyond words that our family members are alive, but they and their neighbors are in desperate need of support to help them through this nightmare. We have been overwhelmed by friends, and colleagues reaching out, asking how to help.
Sending supplies will be logistically difficult until basic infrastructure is available again so for now, your donations through this GoFundMe portal will provide them with the means to acquire the immediate relief they need and begin to rebuild.
