Eliud Lisboa Memorial Fund

On September 26th, 2017, Eliud Lisboa heard shouting outside of his apartment in Independence. He went, unarmed besides with good will, to try to diffuse the situation as there's families with children within earshot and things were getting out of hand. He trusted his fellow man and was always a man of peace and endless love. While Eliud was addressing the main aggressor, with his son behind him, another person opened fire. Eliud was hit and pronounced dead by the time he reached the hospital. His son was thankfully unharmed. Eliud leaves behind a wife of 19 years who's struggled with many medical issues and a son who's still in high school here in Independence, as well as 7 older children. He was always his wife's rock, he was by her side for every surgery and cared for her on the days she couldn't get out of bed. Just the morning of that fateful Tuesday, he kept telling her how much he loved her. His son was quoted saying "He knew something was going to happen. He was so happy." The family of three had just moved to Independence from Puerto Rico a year ago and with his wife's medical bills, they have little left in savings although they were optimistic about the future. We, her family, are establishing this fund for her and her son to help pay for funeral costs, cover any future medical bills, and help them in any way they may need in the wake of this unexpected tragedy. 100% of the money donated will go directly to Eliud's loving wife.Donations can also be made through Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, Missouri made in the name of Maria Hernandez. Food or flowers for the family can also be brought to either the Rosario or Lisboa home by Saturday, September 30th.
