300km in 30 Days in Aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice
Donation protected
Hi Everyone!
I am planning on walking 300km in 30 days (within the current travel restrictions)in aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice. I am going to do one 10km walk everyday from May 31st finishing up on my birthday on June 29th. Mayo Roscommon Hospice is a charity that is very close to my heart as it cares and supports cancer patients and their families. In the space of over 2 and half years My Mum, Husband, Sister-in-Law and Aunty were all diagnosed with cancer. My beautiful, energetic , young at heart Mum passed away in 2017. 15 months later my Husband Shane (aka Peach) was diagnosed. Therefore I know first hand the vital role charities like Mayo Roscommon Hospice play at the darkest times.
Mayo Roscommon Hospice in association with HSE West provides a specialist palliative care service, free of charge, to patients and families living with life limiting illness in counties Mayo and Roscommon. The service is available to patients in their homes and hospitals. As well as palliative care services Mayo Roscommon Hospice also provides the following vital services free of charge:
*Specialist palliative home care nursing 7 days a week 365 days a year
*Social work services.
*Hospice care workers/sitter service and extra home help
*Counselling and psychological support to patients and their families
*Financial support and advice for families who experience hardship due to illness
*Ongoing training and education for the palliative care teams
*Other supports to patients and families on an individual assessment basis
*Bereavement counselling
Thank you for any support that you can give. If I could raise enough money to give at least one family the service of Mayo Roscommon Hospice for just one night I would be so happy. As little as that seems I know the big difference that would make to some family for many years to come.
