On Friday, July 24th My friend dropped her German Shepard/Mastiff “Theo” off at The Spotted Spa Retreat located at 5571 Anderson way in Kelowna, at approximately 1 o clock. On Sunday, July 26th She was to pick-up Theo up at the close of business at 8 (PM). She received a text message in the morning on Monday July, 27th that read as the following “Hi there. I'm just letting you know Theo is not feeling well. It started yesterday. I found what appeared to be vomit in his kennel containing blood. Then again outside containing blood and fur also noticed he has diarrhea. We recommend a vet appointment very soon. He has no injuries that we've seen. We do have lots of small animals the dogs sometimes catch. It's best to have him checked out to be safe. He is eating a little and drinking normally.” The neglect that the spotted spa staff showed by not even picking up the phone to call her vet about the blood in his vomit or the “lack of staff” reason they gave her for not taking him to the vet. Theo has undergone now two blood transfusions, countless blood tests, multiple x-rays an ultrasound and has been placed on multiple medications and special dietary food. His blood levels were so low that the vet who saw him first didn’t know if he was going to make it through the night. Theo was originally seen at Carrington animal hospital, then after blood results was immediately transferred to Fairfield animal hospital. He stayed with them from the 27th to the 31st of July. On July 31st we transferred Theodore to Canada West Specialists and Critical Care Unit in Vancouver, where he was placed in ICU from the 31st until August 4th. Theo underwent multiple tests and had to see an internal medicine specialist. On August 4th Theodore was discharged in stable condition and came back home to Kelowna. As a single female who suffers from seizures brought on from stress, I’m sure you can imagine what she is going through and how stressful her situation is.
