I am Krista Burdette. My hometown is Clendenin, West Virginia. The Clendenin that you're seeing on national media due to utter devastation by the once-in-a-century flood this past week. The massive effort to clean up is overwhelming, and the response from external family, friends, communities, and churches is inspiring. I'm creating this GoFundMe specifically for my family: My grandmother (Betty Snyder), aunt & uncle (Nancy & Jack Suttle), cousin & husband (Lynette & Tony Lucas), and cousin, wife, & 2 young daughters (Zach & Kayla Lucas). Four generations starting over! Our challenge is that we can't just descend on one house to help clean up, because there are 4 houses across family members! My grandmother has lived in her home for 67 years and faces starting over at 89 years old. It's heartbreaking! My cousin Lynette tearfully told me, "I want so desperately to help my son and his family or my parents or my grandmother, but I can't because we are in the same position." Unbelievable loss. As they face replacing EVERYTHING, the best way many of us can help besides rolling up our sleeves and putting on our mud boots is by donating money to help. They have lost 4 homes and 6 vehicles.
