Need A Helping Paw

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Mackenzie and I was diagnosed with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy as a baby. In second grade I was diagnosed with severe scoliosis that was corrected with spinal fusion surgery lasting 12 hours when I was 12. As I’ve grown, my muscle structure has weakened and continues to weaken my strength and ability to do most anything, whether it’s minor or major. I’ve taken my disability in full stride by never asking why me, or making jokes about myself and being optimistic even with all the negatives that come with muscular dystrophy.

Being physically dependent upon people is definitely frustrating at times, especially with little things such as using my phone, but my hand falls off my tray to my lap and I can’t get it back up on the tray or my hand I use to drive my wheelchair with slips or falls off because of big bumps or grabbing things off the floor that I drop, etc. When things like this happen, I have to rely on family and friends to help me. This is where having a service dog would come in handy because I’m mentally independent so I strive to make myself as independent physically as I possibly can. A service dog to me would be an extension of my arms and legs. While doing research on getting a service dog, I was shocked at how much it was to have a certified service dog.

Please help me raise money to become more independent by way of a service dog! Your money will be used for a black Labrador or German Shepherd male puppy, startup costs for a dog (shots, neutering, collar with a tag, food and water bowls), and the majority of it will be for the training.
